Howl at the Moon husky rescue located in Zanesville Ohio is dedicated to saving the lives of Siberian Huskies. HatM is a not for profit organization owned and operated by me, Jennifer Ray-Swope. The rescue was founded in 2010 and has saved over 270 Huskies and other breeds lives, in that short time.
Howl at the Moon relies soley on adoption fees and donations to cover the costs of these sweet lives. Costs include food, vetting for sick dogs, immunizations, dewormings, heartworm treatments (when necessary), spaying/neutering, heartworm & flea/tick preventatives and microchipping. No dog leaves our care until they are completely healthy and up to date on every vaccine, altered and chipped. Currently there has been very few temporary fosters stepping up to house these gorgeous dogs. I keep them in my own home as well as my own family dogs, cats, husband and 3 children. I work selflessly and constantly maintaining my home and all these lives. Our goal is to raise enough money through donations and fundraisers to scrape together $20,000. While this amount may seem high it is relatively low for the purpose. With $20K we can put up a heated/cooled bulding on our property that will very comfortably house 16 adult dogs. This building will also include an isolation room and a whelping room (the rescue does take in pregnant and nursing mothers). This building will not only make life and that of her family easier but also allow us to rescue more dogs.
The Siberian Husky is a beautiful creature for sure but often misunderstood. They are not the right choice for every family because of their instinctive nature to run and their stubborn streaks. This as well as other reasons causes Huskies to be the second ,ost surrendered of the breeds in shelters/pounds around the country.
