My father, Benjamin Valdevieso, whom we always call Tatay Ben, was recently diagnosed with Uremia and Pneumonia. Uremia is a state where the kidney can no longer function well and releases abnormal amount of creatinine. If his creatinine continue to be at the high risk level, it will release enormous amount of toxins that can further infect his blood and other organs. He is now in the ICU and dialysis sessions has been started. Few days after this first diagnosis, another Problem was detected, and this time, its about his liver. His liver, as the lab tests suggests, is severely damaged. And as per the specialist looking after his liver problem, theres no way for them to totally stop the deterioration of his liver, they can only slow it down. His damaged liver is now releasing high volume of toxins which sometimes affect his brain. There are times that he is disoriented. He sometimes look clueless about whats happening. There was also a time that he didnt recognized me when he was asked if he knows me. Which literally brought me to tears. I cannot describe the pain i felt when he said he dont know me and the pain im still feeling up to now when im seeing him very weak.He needs to undergo many more sessions of dialysis and even doctors cannot even tell as to how long will he be staying in the ICU. For now, doctors are focusing on his kidney and liver issues so to avoid further complications. And just today, August 01, 2017, the doctors informed us about the result of a test which we all waited for a week. We found out that his kidney, lung and liver failures are all because of one disease, LEPTOSPIROSIS. A disease which can be get when animal or rodent urine penetrate an open wound. How did my father got this? Ever since i was in college, he raise pigs in our little piggery on our backyard. He does all the work, from cleaning the pigs' house everyday and feeding them. This work continued until i graduate, and still continued up to now ( he just stop when he started feeling sick). Its very devastating to think that his own way of earning money and providing our family's needs, he is now suffering.

Being the eldest daughter and the breadwinner of the family, i can really feel the weight of this problem on my shoulder. Im still sending my younger brother to school up to now. Despite this situation, i want him to continue his studies because thats my father's only dream. For him to see that his only daughter and only son finish college and get decent jobs sooner.

Staying in the ICU is no joke, the bill accumulate rapidly as sooo many tests and procedures are being requested and done everyday. But for a daughter who hopes and prays nothing but to see her father live longer, and as the bread winner of the family, I will do everything that I can to prolong my father's life.

I started my own fund raising by selling home made pastillas ( Philippines' soft milk candies) for 200 pesos per pack. But, this is still not enough to cover all the medical expenses.

So im taking this chance to ask for every one's help. Im humbly knocking on your kind hearts. I still wanted my father to witness my younger brother's graduation. Instil No amount is too small, every single donation can help our family, especially my father. If you are from the Philippines and would want to donate, heres my bank accnt number:

BDO Account number: 002370627863 Account name: Sarina C. Valdevieso

Once again everyone, im asking for your help, please hear this daughter's plea.
