Before you begin reading this, we already appreciate you just for being here. Thank you.

This is Sasay's case:

Her name is Ronalyn Gumabo Bernales, Sasay for short. She's 16 years old and just graduated Junior High this year. Although she may not have had the chance to climb up the stage for the graduation rites due to covid, we are no less as proud of her for making it despite her family's struggles with poverty.

She's very kind and diligent, a loving sister to her 2 younger siblings, a modest daughter, and above all a God-fearing child. Every once in a week, relatives would gather at their place, and she would sing songs of praises while our lola recites prayers for the family. In the short span of time I've known her (I just moved in the city last year) I can say that she's the kind of daughter anyone would want to raise.

However, in the first week of June, a sudden illness struck her and her body started swelling, so much that she started developing breathing problems. And after weeks of observation and receiving home remedy treatments, her condition has not improved at all; it sadly has only gotten worse. On June 17th, after the family had collected enough money to send her to a doctor and afford necessary lab tests; the results came in and she was sadly diagnosed with Acute Glomerulonephritis and Acute Kidney Injury (sudden kidney failure on both kidneys).

The doctor strongly advised that she undergo dialysis ASAP but gave 2-weeks worth of prescription as a temporary alternative while her parents struggle to find a way to get the money needed for the cost of the treatment. If after 2 weeks her condition does not improve, it could mean her life if she doesn't receive the treatment by then.

Both of her parents don't have any job to support her medical needs. Her father, my father's brother, is a contractual painter and only depends on intermittent projects which was essentially non-existent during this pandemic; and her mother a housewife. The family could hardly sustain their daily needs, let alone such expensive medical expenses - in fact, as of this writing, her father and aunt who's with her only had coffee for breakfast and lunch.

We, and other relatives and friends, have given any amount of financial, moral, and emotional support that we could however it is still not enough to get her dialysis treatment started; they still need to buy some medical articles that will be used for the treatment which are not available in the hospital. I am writing this as my way of helping her and in hopes of knocking on other people's heart and ask for however small amount of financial support you can help Sasay. We don't ask much, just enough to get the dialysis treatment going, we believe that's the most important thing right now. Just one step at a time. If all your donations happen to cover more than that then we would be really absolutely grateful as we can use it to keep her treatment going until she becomes well. We really don't know how long she'll need dialysis but everyday we pray to God for divine healing.

We hope that you can help us cover Sasay's future medical treatment, no matter how small the amount, it will definitely go a long way for her recovery. We know that you guys are affected by covid too and we understand if you cannot afford to give any financial help yet but sharing this will greatly help us and will be equally appreciated no doubt.

Thanks for taking the time reading this and WE DEEPLY APPRECIATE YOUR HELP. ♥♥♥ God bless us all.

UPDATE as of June 29:

Through the generous donations of family, friends and other very kind people, Sasay has gone through a few dialysis now. Thanks to all that did not hesitate to give despite themselves financially struggling as well, we appreciate it and know that God sees your generosity and He will see to it that your kindness be repaid.

However we bring a bad news as her condition has took a turn for the worse from what the doctor's initial diagnosis of Acute Kidney Injury to Chronic Kidney Disease Stage 5 :( :( :(

If Sasay is to get through this she will have to go through a kidney transplant. The kidney is not the problem as everyone in the family wont think twice to donate theirs but again we will need to come up with an insurmountable amount of money to pay for the down payment and cost of the entire operation.

Again, we are knocking on your hearts; Sasay's battle is far from over yet and we need every helping hand we can get. WE NEED YOU. Please help us save her life.

Please don't hesitate to give no matter how small the amount is, every penny will be appreciated equally. We need it more than ever.
