A Daughter’s Dream

Hello everyone,

I am here to ask for your help to give my father something he has always needed and especially now more than ever. My goal is to provide my father with a “good” vehicle that will help him get to his medical appointments (which is almost 2 hours away from where he lives), help him and my little sister get to school easier, and be able to visit me more often. I live four hours away from them, because I am currently attending college, I have never own a car and being away from my family has been very difficult.

In 2008 my father injured his back while working. Where he was unable to move or work for six months. He underwent crucial pain, so much it was difficult for him to sleep, or move. Later that year he had to have lower lumbar surgery and was declared partially disabled.

Partial disabled: Partial disability is the result of an injury which permanently impairs a person's ability to function, but still allows the person to work or participate in other activities.

My father was soon after let go from his job and was denied disability benefits due to the ability that he was not entirely disabled. However, he has a pending case, which has been going on since 2009.  Yet, thankfully with the help of a generous lawyer, my father was given the option to return to school but still undergoes several economic struggles, trying to make ends meet while still having to provide for my younger sister whose now 15 years old.

I see my father struggling financially, emotionally and physically. He still undergoes pain while sleeping, standing or sitting for long periods of time. My father is a prideful man who instead of asking help for himself would rather help others. Over the past few years, I have done crazy tactics in order to assist my father, from donating plasma (which was a bust because only got me sick), answering endless surveys on lines (never seeing a cent of the money they promised me), pawning off anything of value of mine, and top of that working and going to school.

Anything will help; my family and I would truly appreciate it!
