As a child in Ghana, I watched some of my friends drop out of school due to poverty in their families. I was fortunate enough to have a father that was in the United states, and I when I was 12 years old, I left Ghana to come and further my education here. I never forgot my friends, ones that had passion for school, ones that had potential to do something extraordinary for our world but couldn't go because of financial problems. Some of them are now parents at an early age, and the rest are on the streets trying to survive.
I have a passion for education. A passion that many have look down upon, but a passion that is immortal. Education is the only equalizer in this world, and it's only fair to give someone a chance at it, and that is why I want to volunteer to give back to my country. Volunteering will give someone hope that he/she can become someone in the future, and it will alsolet him/her know that he/she has people who care and wants him/her to succeed in life.
