Campaign Story
„Patrickˋs Dream Tours and Safaris“ is a small company that was founded in 2012. Patrick, the founder of this small enterprise, is an engaged and passionate tour operator with much potentialahead. He has already helped to create many beautiful moments for his guests in the years past and many of them share their joyful experiences online, for instance on TripAdvisor.
When there are more tour bookings than he can do himself, he provides employment to other locals of his area on a daily basis. Up to now PD Tours don’t have an own Safari bus but rent one instead. However, new government regulations require the possession of such a bus in order to get a tourism license, which is necessary to be allowed to do business. This project aims to collect enough money for Patrick to be able to buy a used bus to ensure him getting the required tourism license to keep running his business and going on with his dream.
Privately, Patrick is chairman of the trustees of an orphanage in Mombasa called the Lioness Cubs Orphanage that currently provides for close to 20 children. He offers free transport to tourists who want to fund the orphanage.
It is not only Patrick and his family who will benefit from the bus. By helping Patrick, also the children in the orphanage he supports as well as his neighbors whom he gives opportunities to earn some wages to support their living will benefit. Thus, helping Patrick‘s Dream Tours survive and get their own bus also means supporting an entire small community that depend on it.
The bus of choice is a used Toyota Hiace. The best price for the bus from a local dealer is $19ˋ000 plus a charge to convert it to a Safari bus of $3000 summing everything up to $22ˋ000, paid cash. Of those, $14ˋ000 is the minimum amount PD Tours needs to have so they can ask a bank to loan the rest.
To express his gratitude for support, Patrick offers as returns free trips and transportation to all supporters. And please note that in Kenya fuel is about 10 times more expensive as in Europe when compared to the average monthly income.
We cordially want to thank you for your support and look forward to meet you hopefully one day in the years to come in Mombasa.
