A Bus for a Plus

Dear fellow Freddie Mac colleagues and alums,

Words can’t describe how bummed I am to miss this (sure-to-be epic) get-together, complete with reminiscing about the good ol' times and catching up on everyone's' new adventures. Unfortunately Juneau, AK to DC does not make for a quick trip. However,I can not miss the opportunity to shamelessly tap your generosity in support of an organization which I have started almost 5 years ago, to fill the void left by no longer having a mission of "We Open D oors" and "World Free of Poverty".

Ikirwa School Project was formed to support and operate a private, English-medium school in a small Tanzanian mountain village of Midawe. Since we opened our doors in 2012 the student body has grown to 92 kids in grades pre-K to 4th. Our students pay one of the lowest tuition rates in the district and 20% attend the school free of charge.

Since Ikirwa is the only English-medium school in the area, many of our students travel for miles over rough mountain road to get there.In 2013 through the generosity of the Freddie Mac alums and employees, we were able to acquire a used 4-wheel drive microbus to carry those kids to our campus. Today I am asking for your help with getting a second microbus to accommodate our growing student body and serve as a backup when its predecessor needs repairs - which can happen weekly during the rainy season.
