A Bicycle For Mom

          This past May, for Mother's Day, our family gathered enough to buy my mother her dream gift. A beautiful Schwinn cruiser with a little wicker basket. She had hinted at this bicycle for months but knew that finances were tight for everyone and did not truly expect that she would get it. On that morning, we placed a huge red bow and called her out to the driveway. She was so excited she screamed and even the neighbors came out to see the commotion. She jumped on the bike right away and rode up and down the street! Every day she rides to the grocery store, the beach and evening rides around the neghborhood. It's good excericise for her and brings her relaxation and happiness. For her, it's a nice break from dealing with the evryday challenges of Type 1 Diabetes.

Yesterday, after a long day of work, my mother came home and took a nap. When she woke up to take bike ride she found the lock cut on our garage and the bike had been stolen.

My mother is simply distraught and we cannot buy her a new one at this time. Any donation is greatly appreciated.
