Short Summary

People who are fleeing the war continue to come to Zaporizhzhia, in particular residents from the occupied territories, as well as areas where active hostilities are taking place. Since the beginning of the Russian invasion, our city has already met 134,520 internally displaced persons, including 36,466 children, and this number is still increasing.

Internally displaced persons (IDP) have a number of needs: from humanitarian to integration issues - job search, information about the city, cultural events.

What We Need

With a group of local volunteers, I found a place in Zaporizhzhia with an area of about 200 m2. At such a difficult time for our country, we had the idea to use it for creation the Public Centre for IDP.

The centre will be a place where all the opportunities necessary for the successful integration of internally displaced persons will be gathered.

The main functional structures of the Public Centre for IDP will be:

  • co-working space, career point and place for conducting training and seminars;
  • opening of a temporary or permanent shelter for civilians evacuated who lost their homes as a result of artillery shelling and bombing;
  • kitchen and additional premises for providing food for volunteers and IDP who are in the centre or have applied for help;
  • point where people can rest, warm up and charge their phones during possible long blackouts following Russian attacks on energy infrastructure;
  • media point that will become a platform for generating news, communicating and getting to know the media at all levels;
  • providing legal advice and protection of the rights of servicemen and civilians evacuated from the temporarily occupied territories;
  • point of provision of psychological assistance for military personnel, adults and children;
  • open gallery for art and cultural events;
  • play area for children.

The place also has a basement that can be used as a bomb shelter for volunteers and visitors to advertise in the city's air alert.

In the photos are some references of our idea.

To open the Public Centre for IDP, taking into account the premises buying, we need 80,000 EUR. Part of the money received will be immediately transferred to charitable funds to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

There are no small donations - every 1 brings us closer to the goal!

F. A. Q.

Why Zaporizhzhia?

Today, our city is securely fortified and is 30 km from the current front line. Such geolocation will make humanitarian aid to servicemen faster and logistics routes shorter. Directly, there will be an opportunity to provide assistance to people evacuated to Zaporizhzhia.

Why buy the premises and not rent?

Unfortunately, we don’t know how long the war will last in our country, so renting a place is a big financial risk. When buying the premises, we will be able to fully manage the area, make the necessary arrangements and redevelopment for the Public Centre, not to depend on the lessor financially and on its restrictions on the management of the premises.

What will happen to the premises after the war?

We sincerely believe in our victory. After the war, we plan to open a cafe or restaurant with Ukrainian cuisine, desserts and a bar. For our servicemen there will be a 10% discount on the entire menu.

From the withdrawn funds we will give 20% to charitable organisations, in particular to those aimed at psychological and physical rehabilitation of servicemen of our country. Thus, by paying taxes, we will be able to support the postwar economy of Ukraine, while not forgetting about charity.
