Please help Lawrence Gavin in NICU

Update posted by Luis Kenneth Ongelico On Nov 08, 2019

Yesterday, we got news from his doctor that baby Lawrence Gavin is ready to be discharged. We were so happy that finally he's coming home and we're going to spend our first night together.

Our little warrior has been through a lot, he's a fighter. From his birthweight of 1.150 kilos, he now weighs 2.310 kilos.

We would like to thank all those who gave monetary assistance and to all who prayed for baby Lawrence, we really appreciate it.

We would like to thank our family, relatives, friends, highschool batchmates, college friends, and all the good samaritans out there.

Baby Lawrence's condition has been stable for the past few days and he now weighs 1.47kilos. In order to gain more weight faster, his doctor advised us to buy human milk fortifier, which they will mix with breast milk.

He is still in an incubator as his body still needs to be thermoregulated. His stay in the hospital depends on how fast he will gain the required weight of 2 kilos to be able to go home.

Excluding doctor's professional fee, our current hospital bill has already ballooned to Php1,369,000. Total donations as of today is Php897,000.

Please do share our post so that it may reach others, as we are still in need of financial help.

We would like to thank all those who gave monetary assistance and to all who prayed for baby Lawrence, we really appreciate it.

September 24, 2019, Day 26 in NICU

Last night baby Lawrence climb back to his birth weight at 1.15 kilos. They fed him 6ml of breastmilk and will be increasing his intake if he can tolerate.

The doctor enrolled us in the kangaroo mother care or KMC which is a technique where baby Lawrence is kept chest to chest or skin to skin with mommy and daddy. This technique improves stability of the heart and breathing rate of babies.

As of yesterday baby Lawrence bill have already reached 840k or around an average of 33k a day excluding doctors professional fees. He still needs to stay for around 5 more weeks and gain some weight before doctors will release him.

Thank you for all your prayers and for all those who helped out financially.

For those who want to help baby Lawrence thru prayers, financially or simply by sharing this post..

It is already the 19th day of baby Lawrence in the NICU. They have inserted a peripherally inserted central catheter, which is a form of intraveneous access, that can be used for a long period of time. They also did a cranial scan where they discovered a grade 1 hemorrage but with signs of healing. Aspirates, the liquid substance which accumulates in the mouth due to infection, has lessened after they gave him antibiotics.

Last Sept.16, when I woke up at around 6:30am, we received an sms informing us that baby Lawrence needed a blood transfusion and that the doctor would explain everything when we got to the hospital. We were worried so we rushed there. The doctor then explained that the red blood cells of baby Lawrence went down a bit although it was still in the normal range. She further explained that even though it was expected, they want to do the blood transfusion as a precaution.

Baby Lawrence still needs to stay in the NICU for some more weeks and he needs to be at least 2kilos before they release him. His weight now is only 1.06 kilos.

We are reaching out to you for financial assistance as the bills are piling up. Please help share this post.

Thank you so much.
