Hi everyone. I am Kimberly David and I am a graduate of BA Communication. I decided to pursue my dream of becoming a doctor and was successfully got accepted in the medical school. Although I already got accepted in medical school, the struggle is all about the payment required in going to medical school.

In order to know more, let me tell you about my family and I.

Ever since I was young, I badly wanted to be a doctor, but life took a 360 degrees change in our my family's life.

I grew up in the squatters area and eventually saw how difficult life is since I was young. Gladly my parents tried to have a small business of sari-sari store and karenderya before that sustain us in our daily lives. Me and my brother graduated from elementary to secondary education depending on the scholarship grants, and on the small business my family had.

With the help of scholarship and small profits from our small business, I was able to successfully graduate in high school. It was a comfortable ordinary life when suddenly we need to close our businesses. The daughter's owner of the small karenderya place we had decided to ask us to give up our small business because they will use the space. It was very sudden that we were only given few months to prepare. My parents never expected it, adding to the fact that the company where my father was working for almost 20 years went bankrupt, hence putting my parents in the most difficult situation.

The saddest thing was that I am already graduating in high school during that time and I already decided to take medical related course, but as we all know, medical related courses are expensive especially the laboratory fees needed. That's mainly the reason why I opted to BA Communication since I knew it doesn't really require books and you just need to be in class and provide outputs.

I was glad in the new world I experience. I was also a working student all throughout my college life. My mom ventured to direct selling even though she is not a "people's person" and my father tried many small businesses. He was also able to enter a cooperative being a staff earning only 200 pesos in a day. I was able to survive and finally graduated with a degree of BA Communication, my brother also successfully graduated in Senior High School thanks to his scholarship too.

Just before I graduate, I was lucky to be in a local newspaper as a journalist and also became a scriptwriter in a local television network. When my grandfather suffers pneumonia and almost died from a heart failure (good thing he was immediately transferred here in Cebu) I eventually realized that I really wanted to become a doctor. I decided to not continue doing jobs related to my degree and ventured in ESL teaching.

Being an ESL teacher is actually great because it supported me with the bills I need to pay for two years I took a break, and it actually helped me to buy reviewers and pay for NMAT exam. I tried searching for medical school scholarships but it's very limited options here in Cebu. I even tried going to other places away from my family just to pursue my journey to become a doctor but when I weigh it in, it will still cost us a lot. So I decided to stay in Cebu.

I applied to the ONLY medical school because of the fact that they have their own hospital and I heard that the payment scheme is flexible. I was worried during that time because I also heard that competition in that school is fierce and I am a non medical related course graduate. Thankfully, I successfully got accepted and is just waiting for enrollment.

Sure I have a little money saved but medical school is just so expensive. I already paid for the requirements needed and already took the medical examination which took me three times because of my UTI. I also sold my NMAT reviewers to help me gather funds for my uniform which costs almost 1,200 pesos per set. I already have money saved for the enrollment down payment.

Now, I am humbly asking anyone who can help me gather any amount of money before the official enrollment and start of class in medical school. It will be a big struggle for my family because they will be solely supporting me in the medical school, and my brother will also be in college this year so it will really be difficult to my parents. Add to it that my grandfather has maintenance medicine for his weak heart and pneumonia.

Any amount in helping me with my journey to medical school will do and if someone is willing to sponsor me for books or donate books, it will be very much acceptable. I also decided to have a youtube channel since I heard that you can earn money from the contents you are sharing, and since I'm a BA Communication graduate, I decided to grab it. Only thing is I need to have at least 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 watch hours and I just currently have 400+ subscribers and still 40 watch hours, so subscribing to my channel and watching my videos will help me too.
