Soul Food KENYA: Widow’s Monthly Meal.

Widow's Gift was launched in October 2018 after working 4 years in humanitarian relief. After the rapid success of our monthly widow's meal in Pakistan, we are looking to extend our reach to widowed communities in Meru, Eastern Kenya where many of the women have experienced abuse and loss of inheritance when their spouses have died and face many challenges.

Our local teams will cook alongside and serve our group of 35 widows and their children every month to help tackle isolation and lonliness aswell as creating a support network over a warm nutritious meal.

In each community we serve we believe in starting with 'soul food' - food that widows wouldnt usually get to enjoy like fruits and, vegetables and even rice or pasta in some communities. In Pakistan we have already provided over 200 warm meals and witnessed the building of frienship, compassion,support and hope.

The initial start up cost for the support group will be around £120 and £50 a month thereafter (subject to exchange rate). Our £300 target will ensure the project is piloted for 3 months with our local coordinators.
