Educational Tour for Tribal Children

School going children from the Reang tribal community who study at the Great Indian Talent School located at Kashirampara, Tripura will be a part of this educational tour in the city of Bangalore. These 15 children are among the 338 who attend the school. There are still about 7,000 children approximately who do not attend school from this community. The Reang is a bucolic tribe, and one of the 21 scheduled tribes of the state of Tripura. The tribe is known as Reang in Tripura, where as the traditional name of the tribe is Bru. In 1997,after the ethnic conflict, thousands of people from the Bru tribe were forced to leave their homes in Mizoram & ever since, the displaced Brus have taken refuge in a town called Kanchanpur in north Tripura. Now, they are spread across 7 refugee camps on the Jamui hills, which separate Tripura from Mizoram and Bangladesh. The No. of Bru refugees living in these camps is estimated to be around 35,000. This Educational tour will consist of a lot of learning and educational sessions. This can inspire other children to take up education.
