Caribbean Girl Looking For The Canadian Dream

I have 34 years old and 3 specific goals in life: specialize in Supply Chains and Logistics, help my parents and start my own family. If you are a woman, surely you know that with my age it is one of the things that I think the most and if you are a man, you probably know how much women worry about having children.

In October of 2017, finally and with a lot of sacrifice, I managed to graduate from a BA in International Business at the APEC University in my country. There were many times I had to leave the university because I could not afford it. My parents are wonderful, but we are people with limited resources and they could not help me too much, but in spite of that we finally achieved it.

My dream is to go to Centennial College in Canada for a year to specialize in Supply Chain Management - Logistics. I already have 3 years of experience in that area and I swear it's what I'm passionate about: distribution, exports, imports, etc., everything that surrounds that world. The class program starts in the fall, but the registration, the advance to be paid, the language exam, the validation of the university degree, the food, housing and tuition is very expensive and really my family and I have no way to get all that money. I need to be able to start in May with the payments and preparations, in order to achieve it.

In my country there are currently no scholarships to Canada and the academic loan that we were able to get does not cover all the expenses of that year. Dominican Republic is a very beautiful country, but the quality of life and income of us, the citizens is very low, we are a poor country. As a student, in Canada the law allows me to work part-time, but even then it would not be enough, that's why I need your help.

In 2017, I was invited by my university for my good performance as a student and qualifications to participate in the Dominican Model of the United Nations in New York and for the first time in my life I was able to visit another country. There, I realized that the world is very big and if I try hard I can offer better opportunities to the children I will have and a better quality of life for my parents who deserve it so much. I want to be the first of my family to break the circle and open the way to a better life and that I can only achieve through education.

I thought a lot before doing this, but I am willing to get in touch with anyone who wants to know me and validate if my story is true. I will also leave Centennial College links so they can validate the costs.

Tengo 34 años y 3 metas específicas en la vida: especializarme en Cadena de Suministro y Logística, ayudar a mis padres y empezar mi propia familia. Si eres mujer, de seguro sabes que con mi edad es una de las cosas que más pienso y si eres hombre de seguro sabes lo mucho que nos preocupa a las mujeres el tener hijos.

En octubre del 2017 finalmente y con mucho sacrificio, finalmente logré graduarme de una Licenciatura en Negocios Internacionales en la Universidad APEC en mi país.Fueron muchas las veces que tuve que dejar la universidad porque no la podía pagarla.Mis padres, son maravillosos, pero somos gente con recursos limitados y ellos no podían ayudarme mucho, pero pese a eso a fin lo logramos.

Mi sueño es ir al Centennial College en Canadá por un año a especializarme en Gerencia de la Cadena de Suministros - Logística. Ya tengo 3 años de experiencia en esa área y juro que es lo que me apasiona: distribución, exportaciones, importaciones, etc., todo lo que envuelve ese mundo. El programa de clases empieza en otoño, pero la inscripción, el adelanto que hay que pagar, el examen de idiomas, la validación de grado universitario, el alimento, la vivienda y la matrícula es muy costoso y realmente mi familia y yo no tenemos manera de obtener todo ese dinero. Necesito poder empezar en mayo con los pagos y preparativos, para poder lograrlo.

En mi país actualmente no hay becas a Canadá y el préstamo académico que pudimos conseguir no alcanza para todos los gastos de ese año. República Dominicana es un país muy hermoso, pero la calidad de vida y de ingresos de nosotros los ciudadanos es muy baja, somos un país pobre. Como estudiante, en Canadá la ley me permite trabajar medio tiempo, pero aun así no sería suficiente, por eso necesito tu ayuda.

En 2017, fui invitada por mi universidad por mi buen desempeño como estudiante y calificaciones a participar en el Modelo Dominicano de las Naciones Unidas en Nueva York y por primera vez en mi vida pude visitar otro país. Allí, me di cuenta de que el mundo es muy grande y que si me esfuerzo puedo ofrecerle mejores oportunidades a los hijos que tendré y mejor calidad de vida a mis padres que tanto se lo merecen. Quiero ser yo la primera de mi familia que rompa el circulo y abrir el camino a una vida mejor y eso solo puedo lograrlo por medio a la educación.

Pensé mucho antes de hacer esto, pero estoy dispuesta a ponerme en contacto con todo aquel que quiera conocerme y validar si mi historia es cierta. También le dejare los enlaces de Centennial College para que puedan validar los costos.
