BIPOC Sustainable Tiny Art House Community

Artists of color and their families are leaving Seattle like rats leaving a sinking boat!

What?

The goal of this Campaign is to raise funds to purchase 1 acre of land (at least - or have the land donated) in/and/or around Seattle, WA and build permanently placed on foundations, 25 tiny eco village/houses that are sustainable, energy efficient and a place that artists of color can live affordably in community with their peers and or family.

Why Now?

The cost of living, the COVID 19 and in particular, because we as artists are unable to invest in our own communities financially due to numerous obstacles facing communities of color. Most artists have a low median household income, a lack of affordable available rental housing with high median home prices. This means that residents have trouble acquiring homes and could potentially lead to homelessness.

The goal is to keep Seattle Artist of Color IN SEATTLE and to allow them to OWN their first starter house that could be used to purchase their dream house later or provide funds for other dreams.

How?

I would like the option for artists to rent to purchase. Each Tiny House would be built around $10,000 to $20,000 each. I would like to partner with local agencies like YouthBuild, Habitat for America and Homesight to be able to give skills to local businesses.

1 acre = 43,560 Sq Ft

20,000 Sq Ft = built and laid out for amenities (Community Art Studio Space, Community Indoor/outdoor Kitchen, Play area for children, Community Garden, Firepit, etc.)

23, 560 Sq Ft would be the actual 20 tiny houses, sidewalks, street access

The cost of land (without a house on the property) is cheaper to buy in Seattle, than purchasing land with a house on it - I have priced land anywhere from $43,000 (Duvall) to $163,000 (Island communities)

When?

The goal is raise enough funds to be able to launch this project within a year or sooner.

The Community Economic Development Conservancy Partnership (CEDCP) creates and manages a portfolio of interacting Initiatives with on-the-ground Projects has been working with impacted peoples to achieve sustainable inclusive economic development through communal retention, conservation, and/or acquisition of real estate property ownership and stewardship in historically and/or recently occupied neighborhoods (place-based) and communities (affinity-based) that have, are, or will be subjected to systemic social-cultural-economic disenfranchisement by segregation and gentrification. Each CEDCP Initiative addresses multiple Equity Drivers through its Project Prototypes. There are currently five "Initiatives" that encompass over $200 million potential for community and real estate development projects, and represent somewhere between 200-600 living/working units.
