My mother, Sol Adoremos, age 69, was previously admitted at Premiere Hospital in Paranaque 8 days PTA due to coughing episodes and low grade fever. She was admitted as a case of Pneumonia & dengue fever. After 2 days my mother was supposedly cleared for discharge however she was noted with episodes of difficulty of breathing & was advised for further observation. A day after she was discharged from Premier Medical Hospital, she was rushed to the emergency room of Adventist Medical Center because her Cardiologist is working in that hospital. She was admitted to the ICU as per doctor’s advice because her vital signs were dropping fast, plus the level of carbon dioxide in her body is way more than the average level…

These machines (Bipap, heart rate monitoring, oxygen level monitoring,) plus a surgery has helped her breathe better and release the CO2 in her body for a while. But then the lab results showed that she has lots of water in her lungs thus the doctors advised us that a surgery will be needed to drain the excess fluids in her lungs so she could be able to breathe properly.

Her blood pressure fluctuated wildly from normal to a high of 170/100. And her heart rate sometimes drops to below 40%, her lungs were also collapsing due to a blockage. As of yesterday, the doctors told us that her lungs are already damaged although they have given us options; one is to have another surgery that is to have an incision on her throat so she could be able to breathe without having to wear a mask but a complete bed rest is still required. The other one is to let her be as she is at the moment, with a mask and everything as her life support and still on her bed.

After two weeks in the ICU the doctors advised us that she could be transferred into a private room but still the machines are there and her condition still the same. She still needs all those machines to help her body function because she won’t be able to breathe on her own. Though she still has the strength to smile, talk (its more like of a super soft whisper that you won’t be able to hear lest you bend and put your ears near her) waive her hands whenever her grandchildren come to visit her, and turn sides all by herself, she still needs extra hands to do everything for her hence 3 special nurses (shifting schedules) were there to help her with her needs.

Our family, relatives, and friends were able to cope with the initial funding needs for the hospital, admission, medicines, operations and laboratories. However, we are hitting a pay wall and if we could not get over this, a life could be lost. My brothers and I strongly believes that she still wants to live longer to create more happy memories with us and her grand children, but then reality kicks in we have exhausted all our resources, we need financial help/assistance for us to be able to overcome this trying times and be with our Mom for the longest time possible…

Gratitude: Right now, any amount could help. I can only give my gratitude in return as of the moment. Once we overcome this, you will be forever in our hearts. If you are comfortable with leaving your name or a contact number, please do so. I will create a thank you post for your kindness and in the future, help you back in return.
