In just under 12 weeks I will be embarking on a trip of a life time. I will be flying out to Egypt to spend 3 months on a Dive boat as a Divemaster whilst learning the in's and out's of the diving industry.
As a student of Environmental science I also wanted to take this oppertunity to answer some pressing questions about the potential impacts that Dive Tourism may be having on Egypts coral reefs.
- What environmental impact could one Dive boat have?
- What is being done by tour operators to minimise implications of tourism?
- How aware and responsible are tourists whilst they are travelling and diving in delicate environments?
As a diver I am aware that many people in the dive community really do want to take care of the dive sites so they can continue to enjoy them for years to come. So the other question I will be trying to answer is 'As divers can we be doing any more?'
To top it off upon my return, if possible, I would like to write up all of my discoveries into a book..... BUT I need YOUR help!!!!
As of this week my contract at work has been cut short and I still have a little way to go to raising all of the funds I need for equipment and bits and bobs during my visit.
So I am asking all my friends and family (and strangers if you will) to help by sponsoring me with as much as you can afford to help me achieve my goals.
Think about it if everyone one your friends list was able to give just 50p I'd be well on my way!
AND even if you can't donate please share this link with as many people as possible!
Thank You All In Advance!
