WHAT DOES YOUR COMPANY DO?

We are 7seasrope Foundation, and our mission began with a single trip to the beach with a collective of friends and an annoyance at the ignorance to our planets health.

We are present, we are making noise and we are fighting.

Sevenseasrope Foundation is a not just your average beach clean company; although that’s where it all began. We are a NPO with a focus on climate change, recycling post-consumer plastics, self-sustainability and a drive to educate and raise awareness around these topics. We are growing, adapting and expanding our horizons, involving communities, townships and reaching out via social media on a global scale to raise awareness and educate the people of the planet on the health of our planet.

We Recycle.

The next chapter for 7seasrope foundation is a mass scale recycling plant powered from renewable energy. Recycling mostly PET plastics from commercial and private partners we aim to produce building appliances . Our private collectors will be trained and educated as part of our township and outreach programme, giving the people of our community a voice.

We Educate.

Having teamed up with our friends at Grootbos Foundation, Gansbaai. We have developed a relationship that allows both companies to work together delivering educational and exciting new programs for the locals in surrounding areas. Getting 7seasrope Foundation involved with two community programs gave us broader outcomes and a desire for growth.

Education is the key to change, having an educational officer as part of our team we believe that educating our generations is saving our generations.

HOW DOES YOUR COMPANY DO IT?

Since 2017, 7seasrope have completed over 183 coastal clean-ups, collected and correctly disposed an average of 10 tonnes of marine debris from our shores and achieved a global following via social media. 7seasrope foundation have become heavily involved in communities and outreach projects along with educational and creative programmes.

7Seasrope Foundation Recycling plant:

The 7Seasrope Foundation Recycling Plant is by far the most exciting project we have planned or executed. This is our pride and joy with a list of functional end products that will not only be a world firsts, but the recycling plant comes with an endless list of communities, economic and environmental benefits.

Renewable energy use:

Our goal is to build a 100% self-sustainable recycling plant for PET and other post-consumer plastics. We plan to power most of the recycling plant with solar and wind power.

When the wind turbines don’t reach our goals in the summer time, we plan to use solar power. In general, the summer months have less wind and more sun making the perfect combination to ensure that our recycling plant is 100% self sustainably powered. With the help of renewable energies, not only will our carbon footprint be minimal, but our overall running cost will drop drastically.

Collectors and Empowerment:

The plastic that we recycle will not only be purchased from landfill and transfer stations, but will also be collected from all kinds of places, from our 7seasrope beach cleanups to private collectors and even our youth projects. That presents an excellent opportunity for the unemployed to make an income and to do good in the process.

The current going rate for PET plastic is roughly R3.20 per Kg. This presents a great and fair way to bring in an income for struggling families or even schools. Furthermore, we plan on building our very own Vegetable, Fruit and medicinal herb aquaponics garden on the grounds of the recycling plant. This presents struggling individuals/families with the opportunity to exchange plastic for healthy and fresh produce straight out the 7Seasrope Foundation Gardens.

Training:

Training will be given to anyone interested in getting involved. This will offer many more people the opportunity to empower themselves and start their journey in becoming environmentally friendly. We will provide them with the appropriate tools and knowledge to become a full time collector and even employ more people. As not everyone has transport to bring the plastic to us, we will have pick up points throughout the areas we work in to make it simple for our collectors. We are in contact with two of the bigger recycling stations in the Western Cape and look forward to being able to re-use all their PET plastic.
