61 Year Old Alfredo Fernandez has COVID and Pneumonia – Needs Help With Hospital Bills

Alfredo is 61 years old, a devoted husband, and a sweet but jovial father of seven children who've been supportive and doing their best to provide him with the full treatment and medical assistance he needs, but the bill is already too overwhelming.

April 22, 2021: He experienced difficulty breathing and had to be rushed to the hospital. Most hospitals do not accept patients without referrals and test results. He was forced to wait outside several public and private hospitals in the scorching sun on a stretcher with a small chance of admission.

He had two swab tests: the first was the day before he was admitted, because the hospital needed a test result before admitting him, and the second was the same day he was admitted, because the doctor recommended another swab test. Both of the initial tests came out negative.

April 23, 2021: He was admitted to Sta. Rosa Hospital and Medical Center due to severe pneumonia. It was a long hard road before he was accepted at SRHMC.

April 27, 2021: They were informed that a third swab test would be required. For each pending swab test result, he must be transferred to an isolation location, which is billed at an hourly rate in addition to the swabbing rates.

This time he got a CLEAR POSITIVE RESULT. Alfredo has COVID-19.

April 28, 2021: He needed to be intubated because his oxygen level was dropping.

April 29, 2021: They were informed that he will require hemo-dialysis, which will cost approximately Php 150,000. Current bill for one week is almost Php 410,000 already (please see attached photo of billing statement).
