57th Presidential Inauguration – Help me volunteer!

Hello friends and friends of friends (and complete strangers, too).

My name is Jonathan Poppe and I was recently selected from a pool of people to volunteer for our President at the 57th Presidential Inauguration that is being held on January 21st!

Whether you like our President or not, an inauguration is always a big deal for our country and I would love to be a part of it.

Here's the rub and why I'm asking for a little generosity from people to help me get to the inauguration.

I live in Wisconsin and Washington D.C. is quite the hike from the Badger state. A round-trip plane ticket is around $500. Driving to D.C. from where I am is a 16 hour drive and round trip fuel costs/toll costs would be around $400.

On top of that, hotels in the D.C. area are super expensive. Even hotels that are 30 minutes away are over $100 a night. A cab from Alexandria, VA to D.C. is about $25 bucks one way. There is a great mass transit system in the D.C. area which is cheaper and would likely be my method of travel, but it's always good to know what a cab would cost just in case.

My training session occurs on January 17th and my specific job is actually on the 20th.

Flying back and forth so I could sleep in my own bed would be just as expensive as staying down in D.C., but it would be more of a logistical nightmare.

I'm college student (and a little bit older than most college students, being 30) who is actually studying Political Science and Public Administration. Being able to volunteer for something like this would be a dream-come-true. I have the support of my wife and family to embark on this trip, so now I just need some financial assistance from you.

If you can help me in any way possible, I'd greatly appreciate it. If you can't help - and trust me, I know all about being in a financial position of wanting to help everybody and everything without having the funds to do nearly any of it - I thank you for just taking the time to read this over and if you could share this with your friends and Facebook, Twitter, etc. that'd be amazing!
