To whom it may concern,

I have a 34 year old sister. Life has never dealt her with a good hand of cards. However that never changed her morals and ethics, she always had a big heart, took care of those in need and saw to others first, before herself.

After striving for years, she managed to purchase her first home in February 2017. March 2017, she lost her job. Due to it being a new bond, the bank immediately started legal proceedings to repossess the house. She's a fighter and doesn't give up. But in those 2 months of not having a job and with her being the bread winner, many commitments fell behind. She got a job in May 2017, did her utmost best to save her home. Everything seemed like it was falking into place. But this 'happiness' didn't last too long.

September 1st, she visited a GP, for very painfull chillblains on her hands, feet, ears and face. He suspected something was wrong and sent her to hospital. She was diagnosed with lupus and vasculitis. It was at an extremely bad stage, there was no circulation in her hands. The only way to treat it was chemo therapy. She had 1 session on 2nd September.

12th September, she returned for a follow up but was admitted because it deteriorated. Dr said it was very active and aggressive. Admitted her for 7 days af aggressive treatment. It had now developed to pannicculitus which started eating her muscle and tissue. She was unable to bath or do anything for herself, let alone hold a cup of tea. From being a totally fit person, she took a complete turn within a short space of time. Whilst on chemo, her bloods suggested a clot. After careful examination, necessary scans and bloods, they didn't find any clots. Her antiphospholipids were extremely high which confirmed she has another life threatening disease, antiphospholipid syndrome. This was now becoming a disaster. It came as a shock to us all.

Shes been with her company for a short while. Due to her long stays in hospital, her sick leave was depleted. Financially it put huge strain on them. There are days the kids eat in hospital because she doesn't have any other support.

She was lucky to be on her husband's medical aid. But she is on a saver plan. There are alot of co payments. Dr suggested she does on a comprehensive plan because treatment for these conditions are not cheap.

November 6th she returned to work and received immense pressure from her manager with regards to absenteeism. 3 days later she had an attack at work. When I fetched her, she was on the floor, stiff, shaking and frothing. We took her to hospital and she was admitted for panic attacks. Again, bloods showed some irregularities. They did an MRI and found a mucous cyst. We are now waiting for the surgeon to make a decision on how to proceed as at this moment she has too many complications.

I am typing this in complete distress. My sister unfortunately had no insurance, life home, critical illness, etc. She has worked so hard, beat many odds to buy a home for her kids. But things are not looking good.

I have pleaded to companies, churches, etc for any assistance but none came of it. Any help, be it groceries, toiletries but more financially to cover medical bills or at least save her home. For anyone that wants further information, you can contact me.

Any help for my sister and family will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you and God bless.
