Being one of the top 20 countries in the world that is hardest-hit with COVID-19, many schools in the Philippines are using modular learning as a way to continue education throughout the quarantine restrictions.

Since it’s inception, Basa Bookstore has been a book donation vehicle that connects local Filipino publishers and artists to rural cities both remote and emerging. We feel that it is a great time to supplement kids’ learning activities with leisure reading - not only to promote reading as a way to help increase comprehension level but also as a form of relaxation and relief. The Philippines ranked lowest in reading comprehension among 79 countries according to the results of 2018 Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA).

Really, our main goal for this campaign is to bring smiles and give happiness through books that will be included in the students’ weekly module pick-up. Aside from book-giving, we will be doing online storytelling through social media.

A little bit goes a long way. Please visit our site for more information.

  • This is a worthy cause. Full of heart, unbridled kindness and stories that will go a long way! What a joy to be connected in this way to children and the possibilities reading may bring them. Thank you, Kuya Rey for this campaign. Are you ready for the ride? :)
