-30 winter is coming, don’t let dogs die on the street

Winter is on the way. Out there right now are dogs that – without your help – will die in temperatures of around -30°. Help us build a warm place for our four-legged friends to stay.  Please set aside just a moment and read on. You could help save the lives of many dogs that need our assistance.   We are a small group of people who come to the aid of dogs. We work without any financial support from the government. For dog food, we rely on people’s kindness. What’s more, we don't charge people for vet fees when our dogs find new homes because we believe that to adopt a dog is a decision that has to be encouraged. It is not something that should be hindered by a payment. We purely rely on our own funds. And in a small city such as ours, it's always harder to generate money for a non-profit organisation because people simply don't have money. It is in fact vet fees that in the first place produce so many homeless dogs. Not everyone who buys a dog can subsequently afford to pay the vet bills. Our dog shelter is not a place filled with cages.

We give dogs a home in which to live, and they live with people. They become part of a big family until they find a permanent home. We don’t in fact have any cages at all. The dogs live together, and they live with people who stay with them and take them for regular walks. We have come to believe that every single dog deserves even more than what a regular dog shelter can give them, more than simply a cage and some food. We believe the dogs deserve to feel what it is like to be needed, to be part of a family, and to have a home, not just a cage.

Our current dog shelter was once the house of one of our dog shelter founders. It was completely reconstructed inside and all the floorspace was entirely tiled to make it easier to clean. Now we've devised a plan to build a bigger building next to the existing shelter so that we can provide more dogs with a warm place to sleep. Without it, the dogs will most likely die on the street.

The construction company requires $30,000 simply to build the basic structure of the building. To realise the dream of this second shelter, we’ll clearly need much more than that sum as a simple structure alone won't provide a warm sanctuary. We'll need to install heaters and additional equipment. So any help would be much appreciated. We will try to raise as many funds as we can in order to complete the shelter before the onset of winter. Your support would mean the world to the dogs and also to us – this is the only way we might help more dogs to survive the bitter cold and to gain new hope for a better life in a permanent home.
