Hey Everyone,

We did a small study in urban primary schools found that 10% of girls experienced early menarche (defined as ≤ 11 years of age),with increased rates of early menarche among girls with higher socio-economic backgrounds. Moreover, 54%of girls who underwent early menarche experienced diminished academic performance compared to girls with normal menarcheal age.

There is some early evidence suggesting that an unsupportive MHM environment impacts girls’ sexual andreproductive health risk-taking behavior. In rural Nyanza Kenya, two-thirds of girls and young women aged13–18 using sanitary pads reported receiving them from sexual partners! There was a higher likelihood of receiving pads if respondents had more than one sexual partner, placing girls at increased risk of HIV or unwanted pregnancy. The prevalence of sex for money to purchase pads was concentrated among 15-year old girls, with a six-fold higher likelihood of engaging in this practice compared to older respondents.

This is the reason why we want to ensure 3 out of 3 Girls have sanitary towels. We Are Having a teens camp from 19th - 23rd of August targeting 200 Girls where we will be Training the girls on Sexual Reproductive Health,Life Skills,HIV/AIDS,Nutrition,Leadership, and Talent development. We have an agreement with Zana Africa that makes High Quality Cotton Sanitary Towels and they will give us at an affordable price. Then we will distribute the Towels to all the girls that will come to the camp as a back to school gift to the girls. We will give the girls sanitary towels on 19th of August 2019.

With this support we will reduce the HIV Prevalence in Nyanza Region and amonsgt the Teens of Nyanza Kenya. We will also have reduced the rate of early teenage pregnancy and ensure girls stay in school.

Being part of the transformation has been my dream. My dream is to see girls stay in school,i will be grateful to see girls molded into leaders and are leading successful lives.

Thanks and God Bless You!

Regards

Mr. Vincent
