3 Mamas, 1 Vision – Parenting Support & Education

The Need:

Parenting young children is a beautiful and rewarding experience, and is also accompanied by frustration, self-doubt, and loneliness at times. Parents/Caregivers often turn to books, social media, and online support groups to help them navigate the uncertain territory of raising children to be secure, loving, successful human beings. All parents want this for their child, and want to learn how they can offer a relationship that develops a deeper sense of security in their child- which lays the foundation for how their child will relate to others and handle everyday challenges throughout their entire lives. This information is best learned through reflective dialogue within a community of other parents/caregivers, using research-based materials and a trained facilitator to guide the process.

Our children are the key to better outcomes for future generations, and we have the opportunity to cast a stone and create a ripple for parents of young children in our community.

While Tucson parents have access to some parenting workshops that focus on managing behaviors and implementing discipline techniques, limited resources are available for parents who seek to gain a deeper understanding of how their own experience of being parented impacts their underlying beliefs and values in their parenting role. By reflecting on how we’ve made sense of our own experiences, we can identify those positive caregiving traits we want to continue with our own children while also acknowledging and learning to recognize those blind spots that often contribute to those everyday parenting struggles. We are already equipped to provide what our children need from us- and we can all benefit from deepening our awareness of how we respond to our child’s needs, and how we can further foster a nurturing relationship.

The Response:

Using the Circle of Security Parenting series, a model rooted in attachment theory and delivered in a visual educational format with reflective dialogue, a greater number of Tucson parents will be able to access this series through locally run workshops in both group and individual formats. While this grassroots effort will primarily be offered to self-paying individuals/couples in order to become self-sustainable, we also want to be able to offer these workshops at a free or reduced rate for parents who are financially unable to access this resource, and do not meet the criteria to access it elsewhere in the community.

With the support from our community, we will have the ability to offer this option, along with helping to offset the start-up expenses of this venture.

Who we are:

We are 3 registered Circle of Security Parenting Facilitators whose businesses will be co-housed in a small center located in central Tucson. We are all mothers who have experienced the Circle of Security model to be life-changing as we continue to navigate both the joys and the challenges of parenting. As licensed professionals in the fields of counseling/social work, we have a combined 50 years of experience working with children and families, and we are passionate about supporting parents from all walks of life.

About your contribution:

We gladly accept any well wishes sent our way, along with sharing about our services once our center is up and running (estimated launch is October 2019).

We also gladly accept any large or small financial contributions to offset the initial expenses of this venture which include:

-Workshop materials

-Furnishings for our Center to create a functional and comfortable space for learning and connecting

*Pay It Forward! Every dollar contributed will be to met with our in-kind contribution of free/reduced services for those parents who are unable to make the financial commitment, and do not qualify to receive this service through other options in the community.
