2nd INAF-NK Go teachers workshop

The Iwamoto North American Foundation (INAF) and the Nihon Kiin (NK) has announced that the Second Go Teachers’ Workshop will be held in Tokyo from October 29 through November 4 this year. The workshop is conducted in English and is intended for people with interest in facilitating the implementation of go teaching into school or university curriculum. The sponsors will cover all of the workshop and living expenses for the attendees, plus a $1,000 international travel subsidy. Content of the weeklong workshop includes training sessions on go instruction and organization; visits to Japanese educational institutions that have go established in the curriculum; lectures on Japanese go history and culture; group discussions on implementing go education; and pro teaching games.

Why am I fundraising exactly $2550 mexican pesos?

The total flight fee will be around $25,000 mexican pesos. But for now, I at least must renew my passport, and the renewal expenses (for 10 years) are in that ammount ($2550).

In the beginning of the campein, the original ammount to get was $10,000 mexican pesos. But with less than 24 hours for it to be expired, my last chance would be only renewing my passport before August 31 st.

Considering the $1000 USD international travel subsidy covered by INAF-NK sponsors (which is around $18,000 mexican pesos), that's why I was fundraising $10,000 mexican pesos.

Why is the deadline so soon?

Despite not having ever financial success in my life, I've been teaching and promoting Go in Mexico since 17 years ago (when I was 21), and this kind of sponsored international workshops didn't exist until recent years. This is a chance I've been waiting for a long time, it would be a pity to miss it. Therefore, I'm fundraising to enhance my career as a Go teacher within my country.

Since there is a deadline for sending documents, considering that Paypal transfers to my bank account takes 5 or 6 days, and I still need to renew my passport, that's why I set the deadline originally until August 24 th.
