Campaign Story
November 05 2017 was a tragic Sunday for us (My Kenyan husband and I). Our 1 year old boy accidentally reached hot water that was placed on the table which seriously burned the whole left side of his body to a point of exposing the flesh on his half of his stomach and some parts bones were exposed. We immediately rush him to the nearest cheapest hospital because we knew that we don"t have money to take him to a better hospital which took more than 1 hour and he was not entertained because there was no surgeon available. We begged the general doctor to help our little boy but she just told us to wait. She also informed us that we are not the only patient and if we want immediate action then we should just go to another hospital. As an average worker I am hesitated to go to another hospital because I don't have enough funds for it but being a mother who sees his son suffer for not getting any treatment made me decide to go to another hospital that took 3 hours. My heart was really broken watching him cry until he sleeps out of tiredness. He has gone through 2 surgery on Monday 6th and Saturday 11th. He has been having high fever to a point of 40 degrees high and i guess it's due to pain that he is going through. We were supposed to be discharged 2 days after his 1st surgery and allow him to continue getting recovery from home, then just come for the 2nd surgery that was done yesterday but because of hospital bills we are until now still detained in the hospital. He is supposed to go through 4 sessions, 2 for surgery and 2 for dressing of the wounds according to his doctor but we are currently challenged financially. As of today our bill has gone to as high as Php 140,524.70 or 2,742.59 USD and that excludes the professional fees of each Doctor. We were able to collect at least Php 35,866.60 or 700 USD through friends and family. Each debridement of his infected skin will cost us a lot. The professional fees of the doctor and anesthesiologist is already Php 60,000 or 1,171 USD and that is only for the operation. Everyday I am worried on how much it can go but at the same time we always believe that God will always guide us in every struggles that we are facing. Together with my husband we are continuously praying to give us wisdom and positivity. We know that this is just a test of faith and we are definitely not giving up.
Though, I am worried everyday how it will go but I am reminded of this verse "Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?" ( Matthew 6:25-26)
We seriously need your help my brothers and sisters. Please help our little boy.
