24 Paws and Two Feet
We need a bit of rescuing
We are three dogs, three cats and one human. We need to find a new home, a new job for the human and a few things to put in the new home. My/our circumstances changed from what was once expected and now we need to make some major adjustments to our living arrangements and lives.
I know it's crazy thinking a landlord will rent to me with SIX PETS, but I have to try. I cannot bear the thought of relinquishing any of them. Pets are for life. They are my world. It’s my responsibility to take care of them. And they are as much of my life, as I am for them.
We are Renée, Rudy + Lois, Mara, Wakiya, Charlie and Ayla
Here’s a bit about me, if you don’t already know: I’m Renée. I’m from Canada, but now live in the Netherlands. I sold, gave away or packed everything I owned to move to the Netherlands. I did this for love. I wanted to build a whole new life here. It hasn't quite worked out the way I thought it would…such is life. I have lived in the same place and been able to take care of my dogs and cats due to an arrangement I had with my ex, but now we have to leave now. It's time to move on.
My freelance work and Etsy shop are not bringing in enough for me to take care of all 24 Paws and Two Feet, so I need to move elsewhere to get a job. Currently, I live in the countryside and there are very few opportunities around here that have a decent wage or that don't also require the German language (I live close to the border).
This is what we need help with:
- A place we can rent that has, at the least, a small, fenced in yard or garden*. And enough for deposits and fees.
- A job. I work in Learning and Development, but also have a background in desktop publishing, admin work, logistics, medical, education and working with animals.
- A small, inexpensive car to get me back-and-forth to a job, take the pets to a vet, go the beach with the dogs, etc.
- I have a few things to bring to my new home, but still need to get some furniture. I have no problem getting secondhand items, but I do need to buy a new mattress.
No matter where we move—within the Netherlands, the European Union or back home to Canada— I figure the least bit of hassle and anxiety for the 24 Paws is to remain in the Netherlands, by keeping travel time to a minimum and by road.
The funds I raise are not for gadgets, trips, spas or tiaras…I just need a bit of help to get me on my own two feet again, then I can take it from there.
If we raise more than the target amount, it will either be used towards rent, a down payment to get our very own place and/or added to a savings account for future vet bills.
Any little bit helps and the 24 Paws and I will be grateful for any support you may offer. Thank you for taking the time to read my story and—if compelled, for your donation.
