I'm John Tsao, I'm a high school student from the Singapore American School. Outside of school, I consider myself a passionate activist for the environment. I have been selected for the International Antarctic Expedition (IAE) / Climate Force Antarctica 2018 with Robert Swan, OBE, FRGS and his team from the 2041 Foundation (http://2041.com/). This expedition will happen from 27 Febrauary - 12 March 2018. In order to fund for the trip, I am planning on climbing the stairs of Swissotel Stamford Hotel or the UOB Plaza One for nearly 20 hours to achieve an equivalent height of Mount Everest as a mean for people and companies to pledge to my cause.
The rationale for the trip to the Southern Continent is to bring experiences and the exposure to the pristine polar environment to the people in Singapore. As a follow-up to this trip, an activist from New Zealand, Na'or Alfassi Berman will be joining me in establishing the Oceanic Warriors Foundation which will begin its international charitable operations in 2025 to push for the industrial change to clean renewables as well as to aid ground victims of the effect of climate change. This expedition like other challenges we will be engaging in, in the following years, are to fundraise for this initial trust fund, termed: The Carbon Transition Generation. In line with the goals of 2041, we will be supporting them in reaching their target of cleaning up 326 million tonnes of CO2 before the year 2025.
A noteworthy mention is that I will also be organising Singapore's first-ever climate march in March 2018 to unite people in opening up on the dialogue on climate actions by all parties. $10,000 of the funds from this fundraising campaign will be allocated to the resources of organising the march.
Anyone from students, teachers, adults and corporate sponsorship is welcomed.
