This year I will be attending the World Scout Jamboree in Japan as an IST member. The World Scout Jamboree is the largest, regular event organised by the World Organisation of Scout Movement. It takes place every 4 years if in a different country. This year it is taking place between July and August 2015. IST stands for the International Service Team and it is made up of adult volunteers from all over the world who pay to attend the Jamboree and run all the activities and services on behalf of the young people with the Scout and Guide movement. There will be different departments including working on subcamps, such as onsite programmes as Culture, Science, Faiths and Beliefs, as well as offsite activities including Community service, exploring nature and water activities. The theme for the 23rd World Scout Jamboree is 'WA-A Spirit of Unity'. This has many meanings such as harmony, unity, friendship and peace. 'WA' also means Japan! This is a fantastic opportunity for me to meet and work with adults and children from other countries and cultures from around the world. Thank you so much for all your support!
