Hi everyone! Firstly, thank you so much for taking the time to visit this page and to read about my fundraiser.
I had the most amazing first experience of volunteering, when a group of my university mates from the National University of Singapore (NUS) and I went to the Living Hope Children's Home (LHCH) in Bangalore, India in December 2013. I have always had a soft spot in my heart for children, and the 2 weeks that I spent with nearly 160 kids at the Home melted me in more ways than one.
I was moved by the pure joy and contentment that the children radiated, despite the fact that their lives were far below perfect by conventional standards. At the Home, amongst the children and the volunteers, I truly understood what perfection in imperfection looked and felt like. For the first time, I felt like my life had a really clear sense of purpose and direction.
I'm turning 21 this year. What better way to remember my official transition into adulthood than doing something meaningful right? My birthday fundraiser's main purpose is to raise sufficient funds to purchase school bags and shoes for nearly 160 children at the Home, before their next school year starts in June. By God's Grace, if the fundraiser raises more than the stated goal, all excess funds would go into fulfilling the children's other needs such as purchasing mattresses and blankets for the children.
This fundraiser is just a small, starting step I'm taking to fulfill my desire to help underprivileged children. The Living Hope Children's Home in Bangalore has needs. The children at Living Hope Children's Home have needs. You're amazing for reading about my fundraiser. You can be even more amazing by donating or simply spreading the word and supporting this cause.
Every dollar goes a long way. The children at LHCH are praying. Be an answer to their prayers. May God bless.
