Myself and like so many other people, have lost loved ones due to Cancer, or even suffered with Cancer. Therefore I am looking to combine my lifelong ambition of becoming a professional racing driver with raising funds for Cancer Research UK.
Throughout the season, for each target that I achieve I will donate that amount to the Cancer Research UK Charity.
Targets and amounts I will donate:
- For every race I complete I will donate £30.
- For every race win I achieve I will donate £50.
- For every Pole position I achieve I will donate £20.
- For every fastest lap I achieve I will donate £10.
If there are 2 races per meeting and I got pole position, won and achieved fastest lap in both I will donate £220.
If I were to progress to another Championship in 2022. I would no longer require the race car, so at the end of the season, the race car will be sold with 100% of the sale going to Cancer Research UK.
Below is information regarding myself and the championship and what I require to make this project happen.
My name is Neil Cogan. I have been interested, passionate and involved in motor racing from an early age. My lifelong ambition has always to be a professional racing driver. I currently hold a racing license and have tested in many different varieties of racing which I feel has given me more experience and knowledge of the sport and what is required to be successful. I have been go-karting since I was six years old in various karts and at various venues. At my local go-karting venue I have consistently finished no lower than third position, producing equal lap times every lap and I was therefore invited to compete for a NKA karting championship. My recent racing history includes testing in an MG ZR and competing in a Renault Clio scholarship where there were two timed sessions and my quickest lap time improved by 2.5 seconds from the first session to the second. I have also competed in successful MINI Cooper Challenges at Oulton Park and Donington Park. I recently competed in a karting race at my local venue where I claimed pole position and won with lapping everyone in the process. I am eager to take the next step in my racing career and compete in a professional championship. On the 3rd August 2019 I competed in the BRSCC Mazda MX-5 Championship at Oulton Park. Prior to qualifying I had never driven the car, or driven a RWD car on a circuit before, despite this I managed to improve my lap time from qualifying to race 3 by 10 seconds
Due to having a number of experiences in FWD cars on a race track, I am currently seeking sponsorship funding to compete in the 2021 City Car Cup, with my eventual ambition to compete in the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC).All the relevant information regarding the City Car Cup can be found via www.citycarcup.co.uk. There are 7 meetings in the 2021 season, dates and venues are yet to be confirmed.
I can cover everything to compete in 2021 City Car Cup, except the total cost of a fully built race prepared car. The total cost of a City Car Cup race car is £7,000.
