The 8th memorial event for TOGETHER FOR 3.11 will take place on March 10, 2019 in New York, NY. Every year, more than 400 people have attended to pray for the people in the northeast Japan, who are still struggling to get back their typical life. We send messages from New York to Japan through nationwide and local TV networks, newspapers, social media, and handwritten message cards… and we receive many gratitudes from Japan.

The memorial event is organized and run by volunteers. In the past, corporate and business partners in New York have sponsored to cover all the expenses - venue, insurance, programs and fliers, multimedia equipments, etc (Photos of the past events are available in Facebook). All the other works that are produced by the organizers (13 members) and the volunteers (approximately 60 people) do not incur any expense.

During the event, we collect fund through donation and sales of charity merchandises to help restore Tohoku. The fund will be donated to General Consulate of Japan in New York Japan Earthquake Relief Fund and Japan Society and will be sent to Tohoku region and Kumamoto for the restoration.

This year, we would like to extend this to individuals who wish to contribute to this memorial event, whether you plan to attend the event. For those who are unable to join us in person have an opportunity to make a contribution this year.

Thank you very much for your generosity and making this memorial event possible.

TOGETHER FOR 3.11

8TH ANNIVERSARY MEMORIAL

FOR JAPAN’S EARTHQUAKE AND TSUNAMI VICTIMS

Do you still remember the shock and grief that struck Japan on March 11, 2011. Eight years have passed since then. Today, people are going on with their lives, but their trauma and sorrow will never go away. Several new disasters hit Japan in 2018, including the deadly storms and flooding in southwestern Japan, the Osaka North Earthquake, and the Hokkaido Eastern Iburi Earthquake. Many people suffered. These unpredictable disasters remind us that we must always help each other. Over and over, we still hear the same message from the affected Tohoku regions: “Please do not forget that day; please do not forget us.” So let us come together again, listen to those voices from Tohoku, and once again send our prayers to the survivors and the souls who were lost. Our message is: “We have not forgotten you. Together we will overcome and help Japan recover.”
