2014 Costa Rica mission trip

Purpose: This project is to battle international poverty in the world, starting with Costa Rica

What I will be doing: with my group, we will prepare a 3 day camp in the poverty stricken areas of Costa Rica for little children and help them forget about their circumstances by loving and caring for them.

I would like your assistance. I am a member of the YMCA and have been selected for a leadership experience to Costa Rica. It is being organized to develop teens with leadership skills in cross cultural experiences that serve under resourced communities around the world. This is a special opportunity as I will join a select group of teens to better serve our own communities in the US and around the world. As part of this international experience, I will be using the skills I develop as I donate time aiding in the work of emerging communities in Atlanta also.

I am extremely excited as I have been selected to a small select group of other high school and college students. The Atlanta YMCA is striving to provide the next generation of leaders with opportunities to serve and grow. This will also offer me an opportunity to get to know teenagers from another culture and learn about their lives. My expenses for the trip will be a total of $1800. 80% of these funds are used for travel costs, accommodations, and service work supplies for my international team. 10% will be used for the work we are doing locally for under resourced children July 5-12. I hope to surpass my goal as the excess money will be put directly into the mission work of the Metro Atlanta YMCA’s International Excursion program.

The fundraising goal is $40 per person however, I would be ecstatic to receive any amount of money you choose to offer. To be a participant in this mission, it is my responsibility to provide 100% of the funding through donations from family, friends and select business contacts. It is very important for me go on this trip so that I grow in my personal leadership development and help the YMCA in its mission with today’s youth. I am contributing 10% of the total amount I need to raise and am asking you to join our team as a financial sponsor.
