2 Marathons 2 Mountains, and 1 Canyon 🇺🇬
From May 2021 until May 2022, I will be embarking on five intense physical challenges around the globe, to fundraise for much-needed donations in order to provide sustainable water solutions for the communities that surround the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest- home to the endangered mountain gorillas in Uganda.
Currently, only one quarter of the communities have easy access to clean water. We will be working alongside Just A Drop (Specialists in water solutions on the African continent) and The Gorilla Organization (whom we already support)along with local authorities to implement a much-needed sustainable water solution, whether it be the construction of hand-dug or drilled wells, pipelines, sand dams, rain water harvesting systems, and latrines or a hygienic sanitisation programme.
We are determined to make a positive impact on the world, in an area we already feel so passionately about, through our fashion label That Gorilla Brand and our continued support of The Gorilla Organization.
As part of our commitment, we are pledging to match all donations up to a total of €75,000 and are guaranteeing that every single euro donated will be spent directly on the water projects themselves.
We will be embarking on the below physical challenges:
#1 - Impact Marathon in the desert of Jordan
#2 - Mount Olympus climb (Highest peak in Greece)
#3 - Impact Marathon in the Himalayas of Nepal (2 marathon hikes and one marathon run in the space of one week)
#4 - Mount Kilimanjaro climb (Highest peak in Africa)
#5 - Rim to Rim of the Grand Canyon hike (42kms from one side of the canyon to the other)
We will also be making a feature length film to document these challenges, paired with inspirational stories from Uganda of ecological and sustainable transformations, which we hope will inspire others to look beyond their "own back yards" and help in the cause of a sustainable future and sustainable solutions for our planet and its people.
We hope that you can support us as we embark on this mission.
