10km for SOLAS Cancer Centre

After losing my Dad to Cancer in 2012, I completed my first SOLAS walk for life. It was incredibly emotional, though I found the support of all those completing and cheering us all on so supportive and encouraging. I have also lost my brother-in-law and other members of my family to this horrible disease and have seen first hand the wonderful support that the SOLAS centre team have offered my loved ones. Because of this, the SOLAS centre is a charity that is very close to my heart and I have supported them both personally and through work over the last number of years. The support and comfort provided by those in the centre is amazing and to have such a facility on our door step is very precious.

I have tried, with mixed results, on a number of occasions over the last couple of years to get back into running so when I saw the opportunity to get off the couch for SOLAS I just had to apply! I’m delighted to get picked, will see how the training goes!!! I’m sure my Dad is having a good laugh anyway! X
