Campaign Story
My name is Jennifer Stewart and I’m Libby’s mom. Libby was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in June of 2010. She was just 5 years old.
Since then life has changed and presented many challenges. Her little life has changed in many ways... she has to test her blood sugar numerous times per day. She wears a pump and a continuous glucose monitor, both with needles stuck into her 24/7.
She has a form of brittle diabetes that is extremely hard to control, even in a hospital environment. Along with the normal complications of diabtes, Libby can’t feel her lows.
This means, not only can she drop much faster than her monitors can detect, she has a much greater chance of falling into a comatose state and dying than people who can feel a blood sugar low.
In February of 2012, her Endocrinologist introduced us to a life saving service dog that can detect a low long bfore any of her monitors could detect it.
We’ve since met her paired Diabetic Alert Dog, Crickett, who we have been fortunate enough raise the money for except for the last $1700.00.
We are opening this fundrazr to help us get the last payment for her alter dog to bring home her life saving D.A.D.
