Dear all, I need help for my college entrance. I am from a developing country called Indonesia, working as a medical doctor. Besides being a medical doctor, I aspire to be a researcher and an epidemiologist in order to improve the quality of health service of people in Indonesia. I am interested in nephrology and want to be a researcher focusing in that topic. I have experiences in research by being a research assistant in my faculty hospital in Pediatric Nephrology subdivision and assisted in presentation in some national and international meetings. I am applying for an online master program in Public Health at Imperial College London, one of the best institution in the world. I want to be still able to contribute to society and people in my country while learning for my degree, that's the main reason why I chose online class instead of attending the class abroad. I also have a family - a wife and a son - which makes me a little bit unrealistic to study abroad even with scholarship, especially with impossibly high living cost in major city of Europe like London. I see online class is one of a solution for me to work and learn at the same time. The good news is I recently got a conditional offer of admission. To get admitted, I have to pay the initial fee which is 10% of tuition fee (estimated tuition per year is £9722, this master programme takes 2 years which means the fee needed right now is about £2000 / US$2500). Unfortunately, at the same time I am about to move out from my hometown in Yogyakarta, Java Island to a relatively smaller and more remote Island called Belitung Island (Billiton Island) in April because of my conscience, I feel that I am more needed there because that island is relatively lacking in the numbers of medical doctor. The other reason why I choose to move to Belitung is because that island is famous for its lead (Pb) mine. Lead is one of the forgotten nephrotoxic element. In the future want to learn about the epidemiology of kidney disease in area exposed to lead, especially in (but not limited to) children, since children with kidney diseases are often underdiagnosed. Indonesia has no things called “disease registry”, that’s why I want to be an epidemiologist and want to start introducing the importance of such registry to the policy maker. I already signed up for the contract in the new place and it's impossible to cancel the contract at this moment. I need a lot of my money for transportation and to settle down afterwards. On the other hand, that offer from Imperial College London is way too good to turn down. While I'm fully grateful for all that I've got, my profession as a medical doctor is relatively underpaid in my country and I can't cover all of my need for now. I need the money to secure my place and will use my unconditional offer and continue my education and opening to find a scholarship after having an unconditional letter of acceptance. You can contact me if you want details/proof regarding my conditional letter etc. Any amount is greatly appreciated. I should answer to my offer in about 20th of April, giving about 2 weeks. I would say thank you very much to you all if I could get the USD 2500.
