The Goal.

We are three American recent college graduates who are driving from England to Mongolia in an effort to raise both money and awareness for the orphans of Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. The three of us are hoping to continue our love of adventure and the cultural awareness we acquired as Eagle Scouts and a Gold Scout by embarking upon this journey. Our proposed route will take us through eighteen different countries over the course of eight weeks.

Meet the Crew.

Parker- Parker is an aerospace engineer from Roanoke, Virginia.   He attended Georgia Tech for his undergraduate education and will be entering MIT in 2014 for a duel Masters in engineering and policy.  Parker is an Eagle Scout and avid outdoorsman with a history of treks in Canada, England, France, Switzerland, Italy, India, and the United States.  Beyond getting their car across Eurasia in one(ish) piece, Parker is looking forward to the people they will meet along the way and the cultures they will experience.  He hopes to ride horses with the Kazakhs and take in the stars in the Gobi desert without an electric light within a hundred miles!

Emma- Emma graduated from Georgia Tech in 2012 with a degree in Environmental Engineering and is currently pursuing he Masters in Civil Engineering. Her area of focus is in bridge failure, and she greatly hopes that her degree will NOT come in handy while traveling across Eurasia! Emma is a Girl Scout Gold Award and has always been an avid traveler – often times enjoying exploring places that seem a tad extreme, such as a bike trip across the plains of Kenya! She is also a budding photographer who is happiest when a camera is in her hands. While racing in the Mongol Rally, Emma is most excited about meeting and getting to know the many people across Eurasia in addition to the other unique people that the Mongol Rally attracts!

Riley- Riley will graduate from the Virginia Military Institute in 2014 with a degree in International Studies and Political Science and unlike the other two nerds he will not be going on to graduate school. Riley is an Eagle Scout who has a history of high adventure in the Midwest US, Florida Keys, and the boundary waters between the US and Canada. Riley's latest adventure was a bicycle trip across the US from San Francisco, CA to Yorktown, VA in the summer of 2012. He is most looking forward to watching the scenery change the further east they go and interacting with all the people along the way. He can only hope their rickety car will hold up on the 10,000 mile journey and that they carry enough duct tape with them to reattach what does fall off.

The Route.

Currently the proposed route will take the three of us through eighteen different countries but unforeseen circumstances could force us in other directions. The proposed route would take as such:

England > France > Belgium > Germany > Czech Republic > Slovakia > Hungary > Romania > Moldova > Ukraine > Russia > Georgia > Azerbaijan > Turkmenistan > Uzbekistan > Kyrgyzstan > Kazakhstan > Russia > Mongolia.

The Purpose.

The whole point of our adventure is to raise money and awareness for two charities that we have come to believe in and which we wish to support. The two charities are:

Cool Earth- This organization's goal is to purchase rain forests all over and donate them back to the indigenous people in order to halt the destruction of rainforests.

Lotus Children Center- This organization helps over 100 Mongolian children who have are vulnerable and abused as well as making community out-reach programs.
