Please Save My Daughter Wing Kwan (cancer, S4 neuroblastoma)

Wing Kwan is my lovely 12 years old daughter. She enjoyed her school life and put great effort on study. However, Wing Kwan has been suffering from a rare cancer (Stage 4 neuroblastoma) since March 2016.

Neuroblastoma is a cancer that develops from immature nerve cells found in several areas of the body. It most commonly affects children under 6 years old, and rarely occur in older children, like Wing Kwan.

After the diagnosis of neuroblastoma, Wing Kwan gave up her study and received intensive treatment in Hong Kong. She had a tough 18 -month treatment, from very frequent chemotherapy sessions to surgery and bone marrow transplantation, CT scan, PET Scan,MRI, Bone Scan... She suffered a lot during the treatment, so do our family. She finally completed her treatment in September 2017. Wing Kwan resumed her study immediately and her illness had been closely monitored.

Unexpectedly, relapse of neuroblastoma took place in May 2019.

We felt desperate as Wing Kwan needed to receive the intensive treatment again.

She started chemotherapy at Hong Kong Children’s Hospital immediately and recruited in The University of Hong Kong and Queen Mary Hospital clinical trial programme for a new drug (3F-8) in December 2019 initially. She was sponsored to have a free scan at Hong Kong Sanatorium Hospital.

Wing Kwan however was found that the cancer spread from bone to lymph nodes. Her medical condition becomes critical and could no longer be recruited in the trial programme.

The doctor suggested Wing Kwan to receive a total 3 sessions of DOTATATE therapy at Hong Kong Sanatorium Hospital (a private hospital).

It is a new technology in Hong Kong and the only hospital providing the above treatment here. Each session costs around HKD$90,000 including medical and drug expenses.

We could afford the first session with support of family, friends and charity. But we have exhausted most of our savings for treatment in Hong Kong.

We could hardly afford the upcoming 2 sessions, around HKD$200,000 medical fee.

Wing Kwan is a brave girl and she is fighting for her survival. This page is our last hope to save Wing Kwan’s life.

Your supports to her will surely help her to fight cancer. Wing Kwan always wishes to return to school and enjoy her school life with her classmates like ordinary children.
