Our declaration

In recent months, a new corona virus attacks Hong Kong people, and the number of confirmed cases has continued to rise. Masks have become a necessity for all to prevent virus, but in the view of low-income families, mask could be a luxury item. Grassroots are reluctantly re-use masks, due to economic pressure and limited information about hygiene. We hope that through this fundraising activity, grassroots can be protected with sufficient protective supplies, and fight against the virus together.

Our targets

For people with disabilities and rehabilitation, lower-income families, children with special needs and their families, and the elderly

We will give it to those who need it urgently. The Pok Oi (The Centre of Philanthropy) wishes everyone good health.

Lower-income families

Many grassroots have no masks at all. Lower-income families have nothing to do, and some families repeatedly wash and reuse masks even with fire and wine disinfection. One rooftop tenant said that his mask had been used for ten days. The family member named Amy, she has family of four in Tsuen Wan, lives in a unit of about 110 feet. Since the masks in the home are no more, her husband has to wash the masks with water every day and re-use them. Amy and the two children have not been out for more than 20 days.

Single parent/ single-living elderly / vulnerable group

Some single-parent dads had to reuse their daughter's child masks for two days and avoid going out.The 69-year-old, Mr. Mo rented a rooftop house in Kwai Chung by himself. In order to reduce the chance of infection, he only dared to walk two blocks away within ten days. As far as food is concerned, try not to eat fresh food.

Weak elderly

Many elders are unaware of wearing masks, are unable to afford more expensive masks, and do not know where to look for masks.

Groups in various districts distributed free masks. Hundreds of elderly people queued up to wait in the cold. Among them, Uncle, who did not wear a mask, said that he had no masks, looked helpless, and couldn't help crying.

Street sweeper

The street sweeper said that the company had distributed masks to the staff this morning, but only ten were given to use once a day, but at least 8 to 10 working hours on weekdays. It’s required to have min. two masks for daily use. It’s damaged, but I have no money to return to buy new one.” He said that once there is no mask, he can only use a towel or paper put inside the mask. Today can only reuse mask. It's bad. "

Purpose of Fundraising

We expect a fundraising budget of approximately HK $ 500,000. The donations will be used to purchase new prevention supplies, such as three-layer surgical masks, alcohol hand rubs, goggles, etc. We will deliver materials to each household in 18 districts of Hong Kong.
