Brief Introduction

Scandinavian countries (i.e. Norway, Sweden, Denmark) have a long tradition of democracy and enjoy high human rights standard. We believe that Scandinavian countries can do more, though they have been relatively quiet about the current conflicts in China, including the Hong Kong situation, as well as practising self-censorship against China.

Hong Kong Committee in Norway is co-organising a 1-week delegation tour in Scandinavia together with our friends in Sweden and Denmark. The aim of the delegation tour is to build network and call for actions to support the Hong Kong movement in Scandinavia. The delegation tour will be taken part by members of the Legislative Council, activists, a representative from the Citizens’ Press Conference, and a photojournalist from Hong Kong. The delegation tour will start on 25th February in Copenhagen, followed by Oslo, and finish in Stockholm on 3rd March.

In Oslo, the delegation will be able to meet members of the Parliament, representatives from the municipalities, youth parties, media, academics, and NGOs. They are also invited to give seminars and participate in open panel discussions. The delegation is invited to launch a 2-week Journalist Photo Exhibition about the Hong Kong protests in 2019 with the title ‘Battleground for Freedom and Democracy’.

We are planning to hold a similar Journalist Photo Exhibition in Bergen, Norway's second largest city. The exhibition will last for at least 2 weeks. The proposed dates are in March-May. We have been in contact with various venues in Bergen.

We need funds to organise a worthwile delegation and journalist photo exhibitions in Norway. Our aim is to raise HKD 70,000 (around 80,000 Norwegian kroners NOK, donation currency would be Hong Kong Dollars - HKD). Any remaining funds will go to 612 Humanitarian Relief Fund and/or Spark Alliance, a non-profit fund devoted to helping arrested protesters and activists.

Your donation will be used in:
