A wonderful day

We ask you to support Artika’s new theater production , “A wonderful day” which will premiere in spring of 2021 in Hamm, Germany, as part of the larger scale cooperation project “Mapping - a map on the aesthetics of performing arts for early years” , an artistic research program for the performing arts for very young children, 0-6 years old, supported by Creative Europe .

The second co-funder of our new production is the Greek Ministry of Culture and Sports . And the crucial third one that will assist in the materialization of this theater show is YOU!

Who is Artika Theater Company!

14 years ago, Artika introduced in Greece theater for very young ages 0-6 years old, recognizing that contact with theater must begin very early since it allows an overall development of the young person.

All these years, in order to maintain a high artistic level in our work, we have traveled a difficult path, managing to maintain a continuous and consistent course in our ideas, which has been recognized by both our audiences in Greece and the international scene, with our participation in international festivals. A great culmination of our efforts is our participation in the European project Mapping.

What is Mapping!

The larger scale cooperation program “Mapping a map on the aesthetics of performing arts for early ages is a 4 year (2018-2022) artistic research program for the performing arts for the very young ages 0-6 years.

It involves 18 partners, mainly theatres, from 17 European countries, the International Book Fair, Bologna Children’s Book Fair and 4 researchers from universities from all around the world. Specifically, it explores the idea of "children as spectators of today and not only of tomorrow". In the framework of this cooperation the following activities will take place:

• 19 festivals
• 16 new co-productions
• The Map, the research book
• The Map, illustrated book
• The "Children spectators" exhibitions.
• The Final Event with the participation of all theaters
• A new audience – research on audience development
• In-depth studies on direction and dramaturgy
• A series of documentation books on the process

"A wonderful day" - the show!

With your donation you support the creation of Artika's new theatrical production, "A Wonderful Day" which will premiere in the spring of 2021 in Hamm, Germany. Following, the performance will participate in the international theatre festivals in Bucharest, Bologna and Limoges and of course it will be presented in Greece as well!

Our idea for this play is based on our vision that theater is “one” and you can create a theatrical performance that is addressed both to adults and to very young ages. At the center of our work for this performance is "language" and specifically the poetic language. Therefore, we want to create an original aesthetic theatrical performance with texts from the poetic literature that adults can watch along with their children.

Why we need your support!

Through all the years of our operation we have supported our projects self-financing our productions for the most part, trying to maintain their high levels of quality. For this to happen, however, it was necessary to minimize, or even eliminate, the compensation of the artists who participated. This is because Greece is a country with extremely low funding for Culture, from which theater for young people is completely excluded.

Nevertheless, out of love and devotion to our goals and visions, we have managed to create, evolve and pave the way for the development of theater for very young people in Greece. As a result, we are currently pleased to work with many of Europe's renowned theaters and groups under the auspices Mapping which is sponsored by the European Community through the program of Creative Europe.
