Eίμαι η Άννα Κοκκίνου, ηθοποιός και σκηνοθέτης. Το 1992 ίδρυσα

το Θέατρο Σφενδόνη, το μικρό, πανέμορφο θέατρο στου Μακρυγιάννη.

Ανέβηκαν εκεί σπουδαίες παραστάσεις, που ορισμένες κατά γενική ομολογία άλλαξαν την ιστορία του ελληνικού θεάτρου, με κορυφαία τον Βιζυηνό.

Το σημερινό Θέατρο Σφενδόνη ήταν κάποτε μια γκρεμισμένη αποθήκη χωρίς στέγη που ανήκει στο ίδρυμα Κουτλίδη. Για το σκοπό αυτό, πούλησα το μοναδικό μου σπίτι και κινητοποίησα όλη την πνευματική Αθήνα. Συστάθηκε μια μη κερδοσκοπική εταιρεία και συνέδραμαν όλοι, με δουλειά και χρήματα, για να συγκεντρωθεί το υπέρογκο ποσό που χρειαζόταν.

Φτιάχτηκε αυτό το θέατρο: ένα κόσμημα. Και φροντίσαμε να το τιμήσουμε με παραστάσεις ανάλογες.

Αλλά η φοβερή οικονομική κρίση των τελευταίων χρόνων, η συσσώρευση των υψηλών ενοικίων προς το Ίδρυμα, που μου νοίκιασε τον αρχικό χώρο, έχουν πλέον καταστήσει δύσκολη την επιβίωσή μας.

Καταφεύγω με εμπιστοσύνη και αγωνία σε εσάς, το κοινό, που πιστεύει και στηρίζει το Καλό, να μας συνδράμετε για να δοθεί λύση στο μεγάλο οικονομικό πρόβλημα που αντιμετωπίζει το θέατρό μας ώστε να καταστεί δυνατή η συνέχιση των θεατρικών παραγωγών μας.

Ζητώ τη συμπαράστασή σας για να μη καταδικαστεί το Θέατρο Σφενδόνη στη σιωπή και να μη λήξει άδοξα μια πολύχρονη πορεία, που μπορεί να μην πήρε υπόψη τους σκληρούς κανόνες του εμπορίου, όμως πρόσφερε στην πόλη ό,τι εκλεκτότερο μπόρεσε.

Ακόμα και το μικρότερο ποσό είναι απολύτως ευπρόσδεκτο. Το συνολικό ποσό που ζητάμε να συγκεντρώσουμε είναι 120.000 ευρώ.

Όσοι μας βοηθήσουν θα καταγραφούν στα επόμενα προγράμματά, ως χορηγοί της προσπάθειάς μας, εκτός και αν επιθυμούν να παραμείνουν ανώνυμοι.

Πιστεύω ειλικρινά ότι ο ακτιβισμός της κοινωνίας μπορεί να σώσει τον καθένα από μας όταν αυτός κινδυνεύει..

My name is Anna Kokkinou. I am a stage actor and director.

In 1992 I founded Sfendoni Theater; that small beautiful theater that is located near Acropolis.

During these 27 years, there have been some truly great performances, some of which have has by all accounts shaped the process of Greek theater in general.

Amongst all these performances, the most notable and outstanding one – a performance that still remains vivid in the memory of most Athenians – has been our inaugural work based on fragments from the novels of the legendary greek author Georgios Vizyinos.

Sfendoni Theater was once a ruined warehouse belongs to Koutlidis Foundation but I envisioned to create there an atmospheric and unique theater. Thus I sold my own assets and mobilized all the intellectuals of Athens to stand by my side. A non-profit company was set up and everyone helped me in any way he could.

The theater was finally delivered; it was a marvel and a jewel for our city ! So, all these years we’ve made sure to honour it with extraodinary performances.

But the horrible financial crisis of recent years and the accumulation of high rents have made our survival extremely difficult.

I may be anxious about the future, but I am also confident to you – the Audience that supports and believes in Good – that will help us overcome this very severe financial trouble and allow us to carry on with our stage productions.

I urge for your sympathy so that Sfendoni Theater will not be condemned to utter silence and a bitter ending of its long- running course; It’s been an artistic journey that may have foolishly ignored the harsh rules of trade, but has generously offered Athens the best a modern theater can give to such a great city.

I can assure you that even the smallest amount of money on your behalf will be absolutely welcome. Our final goal is to collect the amount of 120,000 euros.
