Treating my brother’s Kidney Cancer

My brother Augusto was diagnosed with stage 4 Kidney cancer last year in May, he, his wife and his 14 year old son lived in Caracas at that time, his eldest son, Alejandro, is living in New York. This past August tragedy hit my brother's family again and my sister in law unexpectedly passed away. She was his care-taker since day one and a devoted mother but their suffering debilitated her heart until silently stopped working. I live in Raleigh, North Carolina, the whole family had the hope of getting my brother into a Clinical trial since there were no new treatment options for him in Venezuela, so as a family we decided to bring him and his minor son to US, hoping to find a better alternative, and to be closer to Alejandro and us. Until last week, we thought he would have that opportunity but unfortunately our best chance to get an alternative treatment was denied on 10/30/15.

At this time we are still looking for an alternative treatment but realize that if nothing is found, we need to concentrate our effort in keeping him as comfortable and painless as possible. Because he does not have insurance in this country, expenses are accumulating fast. My family and extended family are doing the best we can to care for my brother and to gather more financial resources, unfortunately we need more support to navigate this challenge. The 24 hour care comes with a high tag and savings are going away rapidly. I thank you for considering helping him to receive the care he needs, for helping us to provide him with the medical support any person and loved one deserves.
