StarOrganics Homemade Products

I have already opened my shop on Etsy under the name StarOrganics. I have a number of organic flavored sea salts, organic all natural bath salts and fizzy bath salts and other all natural options. I at this moment can only buy enough supplies to make a bit at a time and it costs more to do this way. I would like to make professional packaging and the hundreds of other products I can make but are too expensive to make by buying a small amount of supplies at a time. If I could build up a proper supply amount and beautiful packaging I could get many more orders. I opened in late March and have done over a dozen orders already. There is a demand I just need a good looking supply.

I have over the last few years made Bday gifts, xmas gifts and small batches for those who just love it out of these products. I make all mine from scratch and only use organic, all natural or safe for sensitive skin ingredients which is what sets them apart. Many people don't realize that there is an art to it. Anyone can make a basic beeswax Chapstick but there is an art and a science to making it the perfect mix of soft, moisturizing and still devoid of any and all unnatural or harmful ingredients. I like to be creative and funny with my products too and will use mica mineral which is a safe way to color cosmetics and bath supplies without clogging pores or causing allergic reactions. I will make a dragons blood essential oil bath salt and color it blood red. Or put safe flower petals that I dry in a special way into my floral or orange spice bath salts. These petals are dried in a way that allows them to puff right back to soft and almost alive looking in your bath. I like to give them fun names too like "candy cane lane" or "sparkle vanilla mint kiss". I get great joy and happiness out of making all of these products and I feel pride in creating something safe for your health and the environment. I do this by using all natural ingredients and ingredients that are collected in a fair trade and safe way to the environment. I also do my best to use methods that are low impact on the environment even if it takes extra time. Plus I find that it allows for a much higher quality product as it is all hands on.

I research very heavily any new ideas or products I get ideas for to make sure each and every ingredient is safe and best for the health of the user while also being a positive impact on the planet. I have been making these items for about a decade or more now changing and perfecting the recipes. I was only doing it as gifts and a way to keep myself and my mind active while I have been homebound due to a kidney and immune illness that makes me unable to work away from home. I have been looking for years for a way to use my talents to start a business that I could do from home where it is safe for me to be. I tried years ago on eBay but the interest wasn't there yet for organic items and I won't make fake products that are bad for the customer and the earth just to make some money. So I left it alone for over five years while I was able to work on and perfect the recipes.

Now that Etsy is open I have done the research and I see that people have a high interest in organic items. In fact so much so that they are paying what I feel is far to high marked up prices. I believe in making money to pay your bills but I don't think you need to over price your items. Organic products do cost more to make but not what many people were asking. Also there are still a small amount of organic options offered for the products I can make. In that respect people are ordering large quantities and paying whatever it takes just to get the healthy option. I would like to offer people my options at what I believe in some cases will be much lower prices for even higher quality. I may need to ask for the same price to a little more for a few items but those are the ones that only I would offer the quality of ingredients that are highest and those ingredients do cost more than cheap chemicals.

Due to the fact that I cannot work outside the home and that I have all the practice with the products with all that extra time I will be able to focus on each order more than most people. Most people go out to bars and restaurants, have other jobs and hang out with friends or family often. With my illness groups of people are dangerous to my immune system so I only go out once or twice a month at the most and I can't work away from the home. I keep my home very clean from germs and bacteria with a all natural biodegradable cleaner and hospital grade anti bacterial for hands when you enter the home. So products are coming from a very clean environment that is safe for customers because I clean with a completely safe and natural cleaner. Plus you know your product is being made by hand and quality tested at every step by someone who loves making it. I would love to make organic wedding favors and large birthday favors. I believe that handmade lipbalms, bath salts, smoked pepper and flavored sea salts are going to be the way rather than processed sugars and useless cheap gadgets to connect each other after important life events. After all scent, taste and smell are strongly connected to memory and so if you give a vanilla mint lip balm for your wedding favor then every time your guests use or experience that scent or flavor in the future they will be reminded of your wedding. A trinket they may look at a few times over the years before losing or throwing out can't give you that.

I am doing this business as much to have some money to get by better with as to get more enjoyment out of life and I believe products are always better quality when love of the job is involved. I am asking for this startup money to buy the products for my bath and body line which is my specialty. I usually save for a few months to order enough to make a handful of each thing for friends or family and recipe perfection and experimentation. However for a business a handful won't be enough and it's not fiscally intelligent to order small amounts at a time as the larger the order the lower the price. In order to keep prices down for customers and have enough ingredients to work on many options I need larger volume. I have worked out costs and I can order enough ingredients to make the most important and top selling products (ie: chapsticks, bath bombs and bath salts) with one thousand dollars. This is a conservative number but I am more than willing to make it work. I am sure that it is difficult to decide who to donate money to and if they are deserving.

I can't say that I deserve it more than anyone else because I dont personally know the people on here. I do know that I just want to get a hand up and out of the situation I have been in for years now so that I can take care of myself again. I receive a very small amount of money from my long term disability which hardly covers rent, bills, food and my soon to be broke down car. I can't take the transit places because of my immune system and pain level and I can't afford to take the taxi to my doctors and specialists. I rarely have money left to buy items I might need like clothing or even silly things like shampoo. I want to be able to pay my own way again and be able to afford to fix my car when it breaks down or more importantly I have needed a stronger prescription of eye glasses for years and it would be great to buy them. Before I got sick I went to university to become a crisis counsellor. I wanted to eventually work for the Red Cross during natural disasters helping people cope and when that wasn't needed helping to make a more effective prison system that actually rehabilitates so that there is less repeat crime. I worked as a volunteer for over twenty years at a SPCA and even fostered baby kittens that needed to be bottle fed after I got sick. I give up my bday gift from my boyfriend every year so that he pays for my sponsor child in blangladesh. I have done many volunteer jobs over the decades and before I got sick I counseled many peers through peer programs. I don't know if any of this makes me worthy of donation or not but I just wanted you to know that I believe I've done some good in my life that should at least help show you I'm a decent person.
