The Gladiators
My name is Shernette and on Sunday 28th June 2015 I and four rather courageous (or stupidly insane!) family members will be taking on a challenge of a lifetime! Trevor, Driscelle, Natasha and Natalie will join me in a group SKY DIVE!! Have we lost our minds? Quite possibly! But we are facing our fears and ready to take part in this exhilarating experience for one sole reason. My awesome son, Shaye!
The Purpose
Shaye is 14 years old and has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, a progressive genetic condition that gradually causes the muscles to weaken. As a result of this, he is a full time wheelchair user. However, this has not stopped him pursuing his interests. He plays the drums, and delights friends and family with his culinary skills, serving up (to name only a few) freshly baked olive bread, home-made pizza, profiteroles and the firm favourite of them all - apple crumble! Shaye has also taken up the sport of wheelchair football. It transpired very quickly that he is a natural and wasn't long before he was picked to be on a national and regional teams for Sevenoaks and Crystal Palace! This is such a great opportunity for him to do something he enjoys and has a great talent for. In order for Shaye to keep excelling in the sport, he requires a custom made wheelchair. I have received help from a charity but it does not cover the entire cost and maintenance of the wheelchair.
The Goal
So please donate what you can to help us reach our goal of £5000. You will be bringing fun and opportunity to a young boy who has to face daily adversity. You will also get to witness the madness/hilarity of four petrified individuals taking a leap of faith and doing the unthinkable!
Thank you for your support!
