Run for Rainbows!

Help me raise much needed funds for our Rainbows unit!  

I'm a lifelong member of the Guiding movement. As a kid it gave me opportunities I never would've had. I recently started volunteering as a leader in the hope of passing some of that love on to a new generation.  We started our unit in September 2014, and we're already almost at full capacity! Guiding units are almost entirely self funded and even basic supplies add up quickly (it's amazing how fast even felt pens and pencils run out). We have many exciting things we want the girls to do and experience and it'd be lovely to be able to do them without scrimping and worrying about how we'll fund them.  

About me: Just over 6 years ago I did some serious damage to my back. I spent the following 2 weeks in a haze of valium whilst my (amazing) husband cared for me. The following months were full of slightly fewer drugs, a zimmer frame, and re-learning how to walk. Fast forward to 2 years ago, and I finally stopped carrying my walking stick with me "just in case", and started to think about getting some decent mobility and fitness back. Then the Shine night-time walking half-marathon followed. Soon after that, long-distance walking turned into "I can do this distance but faster..." and I slowly plodded my way through the Couch to 5k program. I always need an end goal, so 'graduating' from C25K meant finding a new one... Obviously that means another race/event, right? Edinburgh is a love of mine and is somewhere I've made various breakthroughs in my recovery, so it seemed fitting to do my 10k there, around the base of Arthur's seat.   All fees and transport costs are being paid for by me.

Any funds raised here, minus the website transaction fees, will go into the Rainbows’ bank account (This site pays into my personal Paypal account, once the sponsorship period has ended I will transfer that into the Rainbows’ account)
