£527.00raised of £260.00 goal goal
When I moved to Swindon I tried everything to meet people of a similar age, yet time and time again I found myself getting nowhere. In 2015 I had an idea; if I couldn't get to the young people, the young people would come to me! I founded a new group, Swindon 18-30 Professionals, then and there.
In five years the group has gone from strength to strength. We now have almost 400 active members and a volunteer leadership team, organising events from casual drinks, to meals, trips out and even black-tie balls. The aim being to encourage people to make meaningful connections beyond digital screens. We've seen multiple engagements and even several marriages as a result of the interactions made at events and feature frequently in local press and radio and have developed a strong ethos of inclusivity for young people. Infinite new friendship and networking groups have also been made, all helping to solidify Swindon's young demographic base, improving the region's reputation as a place to live, work and have fun.
The group is not-for-profit, and for the past 4.5 years maintenance costs have been sponsored by an independent bar. However, in light of the COVID-19 outbreak, this establishment is unable to support the group for the foreseeable future.
If we cannot get funding then unfortunately the decision may be taken to close the network down entirely, denying an important community organisation to the young residents who need it most. The money you kindly donate will cover a year of costs to run our website (and admin fees charged by the funding page).
Money raised over our target will either go towards covering the cost of the next website subscription charge or into an event celebrating Swindon's Young Professional community (TBC).

Suspicious / Fraudulent Donations
Update posted by Alice Bennett at 08:07 pmUnfortunately this fundraising page is receiving a lot of suspicious donations in small denominations. This wrongly gives the impression that the fundraiser has received more money than it actually has.Rest assured, any transaction that appears fraudulent is being blocked from processing.
