The Lord is my Shepherd

Michelle was born 25/11/1990. She was born with a Medical Condition known as Sickle Cell Anaemia.Michelle is the first child and has a sibling who shows no sign of the disease.She lives in South-Africa with her family,her Mum and Dad have always been on her bedside, all her life.Michelle has never ending Hospital trips,she receives blood transfusions whenever her Haemoglobin levels are dangerously below normal .She also suffers from Epileptic seixures,a complication to her medical condition.Michelle has been treated at Johannesburg Hospital from an early age,she is still a patient at the Hospital,Haematology Ward 495.

Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) or (SCA) is a hereditary blood disorder characterized by an abnormality in the oxygen carrying haemoglobin molecule in red blood cells.This leads to a propensity for the cells to assume an abnormal,rigid,sickle like shape under certain circumstances.Sickle Cell disease is associated with a number of acute and chronic health problems such as severe infections,severe pain attacks known as sickle cell crisis and also stroke,there is an increased risk of death.

Almost 300 000 children are born with a form of sickle cell disease every year mostly in sub-saharan Africa but also in other Countries such as West Indies,South Asia and in people of African origin elsewhere in the world.Michelle has been dependant on a cocktail of Pharmacetical medications the list of which include the following;Hydroxyuria,Folic Acid,Epilim,Tramadol,Panado,Soluble Asprin and Morphine.Healthcare cost is expected to be astronomical in third world Countries,the availability of proper care will extend her life.

Just like any other girl,Michelle grew up with career dreams,she has always wanted to be a Model.She would like to follow in the footsteps of Disabled British male Model Jack Eyers and Lupita N'yongo.Although it is but just a pipe dream she would also love to meet her favourite role models such as The Fisrt Lady her namesake Michelle Obama,Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt and also the awesome legend Oprah Winfrey.

Due to this illness Michelle has limited social interactions,she needs specialised care and funding to help her get around.We decided to set up this campaign so much so that she would be able to fullfill her dreams.One of her greatest and heartfelt wish is that she can be able to travel to Canada and meet a Gospel Group called Hillsong.

Michelle has a very strong belief in God,Faith is what keeps her going!

Michelle was Hospitalised last Friday.She is having blood transfusions.She has collapsed veins and the Medical Professionals managed to insert the Canula on her Fermoral vein,please see attached photos,your donations are very much appreciated.
